1. Collect the exact raw ingredients and keep them separate from food reserved for travel.
2. Open the Campfire or Cooking Pot; use the Cooking Pot option when both a fire and pot can make the item.
3. Select Flank Steak and confirm every alternative ingredient shown by the live recipe.
4. Wait for the output, move it to the correct inventory slot and verify the Low Sustenance description before leaving camp.

When this food is useful

Flank Steak is best treated as a planned consumable, not generic inventory filler. Its published role is low sustenance. Compare that effect with the hazard or expedition ahead, then carry only enough servings for the route so weight remains available for loot and quest items.

Alternative-ingredient wording such as “or” means one valid branch of the recipe, not every listed option at once. When a recipe refuses to start, place a complete single branch into the facility instead of mixing incomplete alternatives.

Version and troubleshooting check

Food balance can change during Early Access. If the live tooltip differs from the recorded effect, trust the current build and note the version. For a missing output, check fuel, free inventory space and whether the selected furniture is the Campfire, Cooking Pot or higher Cooking Range. Do not repeatedly consume ingredients while the station queue is paused.
