Why it changes farming routes
The backpack improves three constraints at once: experience per action, chance of valuable drops and how long the player can stay away from storage. It is therefore more useful on dedicated gathering runs than in a general combat loadout.
Build synergy
Combine it with the level 67 wood-weight perk and level 59 Lumber Storage. The perk and backpack extend the trip; storage keeps the larger haul organized after returning to base.
